Chapter 185: Unexpected Arrival

"Go and bring her back."

In the corner, someone tossed a crystal from their hand, and it fell into the fountain in the square, then burst into a brilliant indigo light.

The summoning crystal released an infinite radiance.

The deep blue light, in the moment of breaking free from its restraints, tainted with a layer of blood red.

The roar of a beast emerged from beneath the fountain, tearing through the watery veil and stirring up a massive wave.

The sudden commotion made the two girls exchange a glance, and they both instinctively sensed the raging tide of magic.

A ten-meter tall wave of water surged from the nearby fountain, accompanied by intense tremors beneath the ground.

Suddenly, they both stumbled at the same time, the upheaval beneath their feet causing them to rise to their feet simultaneously, disregarding the limited edition desserts in their hands.

Boom—! The buildings themselves trembled, accompanied by the sound of rocks shattering, dust falling from the rooftops, countless cracks appearing on the window glass. The impact even transmitted through the walls to the windows, the vibrations resembling a combination of a typhoon and an earthquake.

Although there were fights and pyromaniac enthusiasts launching explosive magic spells in Tulips every day, this was not the school but a commercial district, where destruction shouldn't happen without reason. Moreover, the continuous vibrations were accompanied by screams from certain groups of people.

"What's happening?" Michelle, feeling unsteady, asked anxiously.

"I don't know, but it seems like something dangerous is approaching," Alena shook her head.

As soon as the words fell, something emerged from the fountain.

It emerged from the collapsed ground, pushing apart the cracks, revealing a robust, muscular body.

Its head looked like that of a rooster, with wings and legs, but without any feathers. Instead, it was covered in lizard-like scales and a layer of keratin. At its tail, there was a pitch-black snake's tail. It stood over five meters tall and weighed over three thousand kilograms.

Michelle uttered the name of this beast.

"Chicken Snake..."

"A rooster's head, a wyvern's body, a snake's tail, a level-one high-level magical beast. Due to its harsh birth conditions, it is similar to a griffin and approaches the realm of fantasy species. However, griffins can be tamed while Chicken Snakes cannot. They possess strong offensive capabilities. Once discovered, they must be either expelled or killed."

"It's a magical beast!"

"Run for your life!"

"Help!"

This is the commercial district, gathering a large number of innocent residents. The moment they saw the Chicken Snake, even if they didn't recognize this type of monster, they immediately realized its danger... A towering creature that stood at five meters tall, its oppressive force no less than that of a saber-toothed tiger.

A blue-scaled Fishman office worker exclaimed, "Run!"

His shout drew the attention of the Chicken Snake. Before he could dodge, the next moment, he was like being caught in a car crash. The violent impact struck him, and the Fishman was sent flying by a tail, crashing into a wall twenty meters away. Blood splattered like a broken water bottle.

A faint glimmer of magic flickered upon the Fishman's body, but it quickly extinguished. The speed was too fast to even establish a spell. Though the mage's physique may not be weak, it was far from comparable to the brothers from the Muscle Rehabilitation Society.

The Chicken Snake opened its mouth and roared, spreading its wings and stirring up the airflow. The crowds scattered and fled, but the Chicken Snake raised its head not to intimidate, but to gather power. Its most terrifying aspect was its ability to spit out a highly toxic substance called Petrifying Poison. The deep gray poison sprayed onto the ground, leaving corrosive traces. Some people nearby couldn't avoid it and were instantly hit by the poison, turning into stone sculptures.

Petrifying Poison. Once the poison contaminates the skin, the body immediately calcifies and hardens.

There were security guards in the mall, but they saw the enormous Chicken Snake from a distance. They lowered their heads to look at the weaponry they were equipped with. These stun batons could immobilize a leopard or even an elephant, but they were relatively weak against monsters. After all, they were not designed to deal with non-humans.

"We can't defeat it..."

"We can't handle this high-level monster with our abilities."

"Go quickly to notify the police station, and bring the armed forces and the knights!"

Some mages began casting spells to block the Chicken Snake, while others panicked and fled in all directions. Some people clung to their injured family members and wailed in sorrow.

The crowd outside was already in chaos. Alena quickly calmed herself down. This was the commercial center, and even if support arrived quickly, it would still take several minutes.

Five minutes would be enough for the Chicken Snake to wreak havoc in the mall. Alena couldn't handle a high-level monster like this, at least not at the moment.

She flicked her finger, and a drop of blood flew out, landing on the door handle. Instantly, the entrance froze, blocking the panicked crowd inside the stores.

"Everyone, go out through the back door!" Alena exclaimed, "Quickly!"

Frightened guests and store employees nodded quickly, pushing open the door to the kitchen and rushing out.

"Let's go too," Alena said, grabbing Michelle's hand.

Just then, Chicken Snake swooped down, its massive body crashing into the shop, its head and beak right in front of Alena. She could smell the putrid odor of petrifying venom. The outer layer of the shop, designed for aesthetics, was mostly made of glass and shattered upon impact.

Alena kicked over a table, grabbed Michelle by the waist, glanced at the kitchen door blocked by debris, gritted her teeth, kicked open the glass window, and leaped out.

“Ah!” Michelle let out a silent scream in the weightless sensation.

Ice wings, fueled by her own blood, unfurled behind Alena, slowing down their descent as they landed gently.

They jumped from the first-floor plaza into the gap, which was now the underground level.

Just as Michelle was about to say thank you, she suddenly noticed a massive shadow looming over them.

The advanced magical creature smashed through the corridor, its body enveloped in surging magical energy, charging directly towards them.

Its claws descended, ripping the ground apart and leaving clear gashes. Thunder transformed into tangible claw marks, advancing like erect laser barriers.

Chicken Snake had locked onto the two of them as its targets, driven by an unknown deep-seated animosity.

Michelle panicked, her face filled with fear. Besides that, she had no other expressions. She wasn't a warrior or a hero. Her mind couldn't think of how to protect herself - either surrender or curl up in defense.

Alena, on the other hand, had awoken the killer instinct in her bloodline. A chilling aura surged forth. Sensing the enemy's relentless ferocity, she did not succumb to panic but stared back in defiance.

At that moment, Alena noticed that the color of Chicken Snake's pupils was not the grayish-green mentioned in books and illustrations. Instead, they were red and becoming even redder.

She infused her blood with energy, turning it into frost. In an instant, the ground froze, and she shifted to the side and crouched down. Thunderous magical energy brushed past her, causing her hair to coil with electricity.

She gripped her icy-blooded longsword, pushed Michelle away, and the girl slid over ten meters on the slippery ground frozen by the frost.

Alena said, "I'll buy us some time. You go quickly inform the armed police and the knight's order."

Without waiting for Michelle's response, she lifted her right foot and stomped the ground fiercely. Frost spread along the surface, forming a fan-shaped frost trajectory. After a brief pause of one second, the ground instantly erupted with dozens of icy thorns, piercing towards Chicken Snake.

Unfortunately, it didn't manage to injure the opponent. Perhaps it had anticipated the move.

Alena also didn't know that this move could directly cleave Chicken Snake open, and it was regrettable that she didn't know the technique of sliding and shoveling. She was just buying them some time.

Michelle stood up and stumbled away. She knew very well that there was no need for her to notify anyone. Surely, someone had already gone ahead. But staying behind wouldn't be of any help. Reality wasn't like a novel where she could just talk and discuss endlessly. Gritting her teeth, she turned her head and ran away, putting some distance between herself and the scene, running for several tens of meters.

Suddenly, she heard a horrifying noise. She turned around and, amidst the sound of shattering glass, saw the second crystal that had been dyed red emitting an infinite radiance in mid-air. In the next moment, a three-headed Synthetic Beast spread its wings and leapt out from the void, diving downward.

The Chicken Snake also charged forward, braving the freezing frost.

In a flash, Alena was instantly engulfed in a dangerous situation, swallowed up by the silhouettes of the two magical beasts.

Even advanced Blooded are far from being invincible. They can get injured and bleed as well. Both of the advanced magical beasts are carnivorous!

Michelle's eyes went blank, and she opened her mouth, only to find that she had lost her voice. No sound could come out.

Her feet couldn't move any further, but instinctively, she turned her head and ran towards the direction of the magical beasts.

The employees from the nearby shops immediately grabbed her shoulders and held her tight, blocking her way. "Don't go!"

“Let go, release me!”

“Let me go, please!"

“That's my friend! My friend! Let me go, please... I beg you..."

She shouted hysterically, as if something in her heart had shattered. The things that seemed so important on normal days were actually insignificant compared to life and death... Alena was really important to her, the first true friend she had genuinely liked from the depths of her heart.

She didn't want to lose her.

But the others didn't let go. Instead, they dragged her towards a safer place. They saw her weakness and cowardice, knowing that even if she charged forward, she wouldn't be able to overpower the two advanced magical beasts. It would only be a suicide mission.

Michelle almost wanted to cry. She couldn't even break free from the grasp of the people around her. She realized that she was truly powerless at this moment. Even in the past, when she was injured all over, she never showed anger. At most, she would feel a little sad and self-blaming.

This countryside girl had never understood how to be angry for herself. She had long been accustomed to accepting fate without resistance and had grown used to conforming to the mundane. The bloodline flowing through her limbs, which she was born with, seemed to have made her lazy, as if she had forgotten her own nobility.

But at this moment, she began to resent her own weakness.

If she had the opportunity to change, it would start from now...

Snap~!

Someone snapped their fingers near her ear.

She heard the illusory sound of snapping fingers, and the chains that bound the dragon fell off silently.

Her chest burned intensely, and a dragon's roar resounded deep in her throat...Dragon Blood Battle Qi!

The dormant power was awakened, and she broke free from the crowd, spewing scorching flames through the gaps of her clenched teeth.

The girl broke free from the crowd and charged towards the monster like a shooting star.
