Chapter 120: Swords Are Cooler Than Guns

In the parking lot, there was a Harley. Bai Wei was not particularly interested in motorcycles, so he couldn't give any comments.

Bai Wei inserted the key, twisted the throttle, and the engine roared to life. The lights turned on as the motorcycle headed towards the public road.

After leaving the hospital, the mercenaries on the two off-road vehicles felt scared and nervous.

"This time, we really messed up!"

"The people who stay behind probably won't survive."

"I thought it was just a regular kidnapping. How did it turn into this? How many people scared you so much?"

"One."

"Just one?!"

"You didn't see him, so of course you think there's just one person! But he could be someone with supernatural power! Maybe he's a vampire or a magical being from the Ming Country, or perhaps he's a disguised monster! Who knows what he really is, our bullets won't be enough to catch him!"

"Hurry up! Go to the beach point! I got shot!"

The argument continued, and suddenly a sharp-eared mercenary heard a sound. He stuck his head out of the car window and looked backwards.

Under the bright light of the highway streetlamps, he saw a speeding motorcycle approaching. It was going extremely fast, clearly exceeding the speed limit. The rider was recklessly weaving in and out of traffic, showing no regard for their own safety. The roads of New Tokyo had long been completed, and there were not many cars on the road during this late hour. Even so, even the fastest street racers wouldn't choose to speed along this particular road!

He squinted his eyes and faintly saw something shimmering with a silvery light.

When he finally saw clearly, he suddenly realized it was a raised silver gun, aiming directly at his head.

"He's coming after us!" the mercenary screamed in fear.

Shortly after, there was a loud gunshot. Half of his head was pierced and shattered, spilling out red and white. He slumped motionless in the back seat of the car.

"Damn it, lunatic!" a mercenary gritted his teeth, forcefully lifted the roof of the off-road vehicle, and aimed a machine gun at the rear, unleashing a wild barrage of bullets.

The speeding vehicle raced and bumped along, making it impossible to aim precisely. It only left a row of dirt marks on the ground. Moreover, he wasn't the only one with a gun. The mercenary had just emptied a magazine, turned back to reload, and another person had just popped up, attempting to take over, only to have their head blown off by a single shot.

Once the suppressive fire ceased, the enemy's precise hit rate was such that every shot would kill one person. The capacity of the 0.357-inch barrel was exactly nine rounds!

"Suppressing fire! Supressing fire!" the mercenary shouted loudly.

The two cars weren't driving side by side because Yingzhou was too small. The widest lane had only four lanes, and the road leading to the seaside base was even narrower, with only two lanes!

Therefore, the only car capable of launching an attack was the one behind. However, there were only two living people left in that car: the driver and the passenger in the front seat.

The passenger in the front seat had already been shot and couldn't stand up to shoot. The driver looked in the rearview mirror and noticed the approaching motorcycles.

He made up his mind with determination.

"I'll kill you!" shouted angrily.

"You want to kill me, huh? Well, watch me come alive and crush you!"

He suddenly slowed down, turned the steering wheel, and changed the direction of the off-road vehicle. With a loud roar, he drove it backwards and crashed into the Harley motorcycle.

This kind of massive car with its weight can be considered as a tool of murder, similar to a plow or a harvester. Many people's first reaction upon seeing it is not convenience, but fear. Although it may appear to be agricultural equipment, if placed on a battlefield, it is not much different from reaping lives instead of harvesting wheat.

Roaring and screaming, the off-road vehicle collided with the Harley motorcycle. The difference in weight determined the outcome, like trying to break a rock with an egg.

The collision between the two vehicles was about to happen as they were moving towards each other.

But then, the driver suddenly saw the other person raise his right arm, holding a sword that shimmered under the lonely moonlight.

He raised the sword high and struck it down with force.

He saw the endless moonlight, and the off-road vehicle shook slightly. He noticed his gaze drifting apart towards both sides. His hands and feet no longer obeyed his commands. In the howling wind, his body and the car seemed like a disoriented team in turmoil, dispersing in all directions.

The vehicle split apart in the middle, but not evenly like two equal pieces. It was more like an onion that had been haphazardly sliced. The Harley motorcycle collided with it, but it was just a minor impact. The off-road vehicle shattered like a delicate porcelain vase struck by a bowling ball. It made a loud cracking sound and scattered pieces all over the ground. Parts fell everywhere, the fuel tank broke, and sparks ignited the gasoline. A massive fire erupted in the middle of the road, engulfing the fragmented bodies in flames.

The Harley motorcycle carried on, chasing after its final target.

The people in the car in front had seen everything, although it didn't witness how the off-road vehicle got shattered.

The driver shouted in a frenzy, "We mustn't let him get close! If he approaches, the whole vehicle will be shattered! Fire at him, fire at him!"

Even the mercenaries who were scared to death mustered up the courage. They cautiously peeked out their heads and hands, relentlessly firing their weapons, hoping to force the opponent out using their firepower.

The other side occasionally took a few shots. The gunfight lasted for ten minutes. In the chaos, one of the mercenaries lost their balance and got fatally shot in the throat by a bullet.

They raced all the way, not knowing how many times they ran through red lights. If they had driver's license points, they might already have a negative score of several hundred.

The off-road vehicle parked at a hidden seaside dock.

The place was rather dark, with lots of hidden objects, making it a challenging situation to navigate through.

Bai Wei stopped his motorcycle and quietly disappeared into the darkness. The surroundings were enveloped in fog, making it difficult for either side to spot each other.

But this is the enemy's stronghold, and it surely concealed even more weapons and ammunition.

Great, this is also a valuable material wealth.

Deep inside his heart, Bai Wei selfishly divided the spoils solely for himself, aiming not only to win but also to ensure a win-win situation.

Suddenly, he stopped walking. The surrounding lights all focused on him, revealing that the other side had already noticed his presence.

The bright spotlight was originally used for lighthouses and on the sea to provide strong illumination. In this moment, it was quite dazzling.

The mercenaries, who had long been positioned in different spots, started unleashing heavy firepower, while there weren't enough sturdy shelters around.

Bai Wei crouched down and dashed towards the observation tower. He swung his blade, cutting off the tower and fired his gun, destroying the spotlight. At the same time, he adjusted its angle, causing it to tilt towards another building. With precision, he hit the top floor, where a sniper was hiding. Even if the sniper wasn't crushed, they had lost their shooting position.

He tossed aside the desert eagle. The bullets had just run out. He alternated between his left and right hand, switching the Han sword back to his preferred right hand.

He entered the stronghold, swung open the big gate, cut out a triangle, and kicked the broken door panel away. The heavy pressure instantly collapsed the knees of the mercenaries who were attempting to ambush from behind. He stepped forward, leaving a trail of rolling heads on the ground.

Bai Wei suddenly smelled a strong scent of gunpowder. He immediately stepped back and planted his foot on the edge of the triangular steel door panel that he had cut open, using it as a shield in front of him. The next moment, a violent impact surged towards him with a deafening explosion. Bai Wei was thrown into the air by the force, while one side of the steel door panel became red-hot, twisted, and deformed. He kicked the door panel, causing it to fall from mid-air and crash into a floor fifty meters away. At the same time, the steel door panel sank into the sea.

Only two people remained.

Bai Wei dusted off his shoulder and turned his head to avoid a shot from behind. The person hiding in the corner had already stood up, roaring crazily.

"Monster, you wicked creature! Go away, go away forever!"

The mercenary dropped the handgun from his hand and grabbed the nearby Gatling gun. The spinning rounds made a loud noise as he struggled to raise the barrel, but in the next moment, it was stomped into the ground. A storm of metal erupted, piercing through the floors. Bai Wei expressionlessly lifted his sword, and blood splattered onto his face.

He had to go back and wash his own clothes.

The last person.

Bai Wei leaped onto the metal framework and carefully walked along the wobbly lookout tower. He reached the top and looked at the last mercenary hiding here, too afraid to make a sound.

The sniper's leg was crushed, unable to move. If left here without any help, he wouldn't survive for much longer.

"Who let you come here?" Bai Wei asked in three different languages, one after another.

The mercenary revealed a mocking smile and spat, "Kill me."

"I don't believe mercenaries have any sense of honor. You're just selling your lives for money," replied Bai Wei calmly without rushing to strike. He countered, "Both deaths may occur, but don't you find it unfair? You die here while your employer remains unharmed. He clearly knows I am here, yet he still sent you. Unless he's incredibly daring, there's probably only one possibility... You've done plenty of dirty work for him, haven't you?"

The mercenary's face changed slightly, his expression filled with uncertainty. If they had known they would encounter such a creature, they would never have taken on this deadly mission. But their paying employer hadn't mentioned anything about it at all...

Bai Wei no longer spoke. He didn't need to exert much pressure because it's normal for someone to want someone else to stand as a back-up before they die.

Between the employer and the mercenary, there was never any trust, only pure self-interest. Now that they were both facing death, it was only natural for the mercenary to want the employer to be destroyed along with them.

After all, they both knew very well that the other deserved to die.

"The information, it's all in that room over there... The password is..."

The mercenary spoke what he knew, and then he put the handgun in his mouth and ended his life by pulling the trigger.

Bai Wei went to the address he was told and found the safe. He tried to enter the password, but it was wrong. He tried again, but it was still wrong. After hesitating for a moment, he decided not to enter the password again. Instead, he exerted some force and used his sword to open the safe. Although he damaged some documents, paper can be restored. Without any surprise, inside the safe, he saw a bomb. Just one more wrong attempt and it would explode.

The mercenary purposely gave the wrong password, hoping Bai Wei die together with him.

Bai Wei picked up a folder full of papers. Inside the large safe, it was filled halfway with contracts signed by mercenaries and various documents as proof.

And the one who entrusted the mercenaries was... the Watergate Foundation.

The person they directly employed was none other than the chairman, Mito Yoriichiro... as expected.

Bai Wei organized the documents nicely. He hopped on his motorcycle and headed straight for New Tokyo. As he left, a sudden and massive fire engulfed the secret dock.

Unfortunately, the weapons depot had already been destroyed. He only managed to scrounge up two million dollars in cash. Maybe they settled with foreign currency or gold... In any case, he didn't find anything else.
