Chapter 3 Galaxy Enforcers
Ultimately, the choice of college matters are less in comparison to the significance of selecting a mentor.
It's not about going to college that suits you, but rather looking at the strength of the mentor. Even if it is a waste college, the stronger the mentor's ability, the more valuable it will be in interstellar combat in the future.
Many people fell into the trap of choosing a college, thinking about which one is more suitable for themselves, without realizing that it is actually the time to choose a mentor.
However, Jingjing's situation is somewhat unique.
His abilities are not strong, and it's estimated that no one will choose him as their mentee because of his weak abilities. Moreover, his special abilities are also weak, indicating his limited potential for progress. Therefore, his choice is rather simple: He will enroll in the Literature Department.
As for which mentor, lets wait and see.
The rules of the School of Literature are simple - they accept all comers. However, the dean of the School has established three admission criteria: First, the applicant must be physically weak, but their academic achievements must be exceptional and shielded from public view.
Secondly, as my physical body reached its peak, I achieved a ranking within the top one thousand.
Thirdly, the physique must be robust, and the academic performance should be among the top five thousand.
Whatever way Jing feels, he always senses that the first criteria is meant for him.
Out of the vast Galaxy University, it seems that only he had his grades blocked...
The second and third conditions seemed somewhat stringent.
Having achieved mastery of the physical body refers to having a martial arts score ranking within the top one thousand, while having a robust physique refers to being within the top three hundred. With such ability, why not attend Starry Sky University?
As for the subsequent academic performance results, they were merely negligible limiting factors. The scores of the admitted students were decent, but if we consider the rankings in cultural subjects within the top five thousand, those who also possess a formidable physical strength, are truly scarce amongst the military science students.
Jing took a glance and noticed that many people were heading to the College of Literature, but Dean Chen Jianhui's office was deserted.
At this moment, Chen Jianhui was chatting, speaking softly, yet audible enough for Jing Jing to hear.
"I didn't even want to enroll students in the first place. Alas, every year the students we accept are either lacking intelligence or can't even preserve their own lives. What's the point?"
"So you raised the enrollment standards?" Yuan Weimin heard Chen Jianhui say this and couldn't help but glance at Jing Jing, the person who had been named by the principal and was now also stunned.
Obviously, he had overheard the conversation between two experts, and appeared somewhat bewildered.
After all, I came to the Galaxy Academy to learn more knowledge and to have a stronger background when I enter society. I thought that the Department of Literature was relatively safe, but he said that there seemed to be a danger to our lives.
"Everyone believes that the Department of Literature in which I study is merely for show. However, little do they know that the Dean of the Department is a practitioner of the Eighth-Order Supernatural Ability. How did he achieve this? Through countless life-and-death experiences. Do they truly believe that our university only produces worthless talents? The ultimate path is to excel in both literary and martial arts."
Chen Jianhui appeared extremely domineering, for a while overshadowing Yuan Weimin as if he were beneath his notice.
Yuan Weimin was smiling at him, but Jing Jing could tell that there was still a hint of disdain in Yuan Weimin's eyes at this moment.
"Teacher, I..."
"What is it? After listening for so long, do you hope to join our literary institute? Anyone who enters here probably needs to shed a layer of skin!" Chen Jianhui smiled casually, appearing carefree, but the words from his mouth were nothing like what we would expect from the director of a literary institute.
Jing's hairs stood on end. He was oblivious to the fact that the dean had been keeping a close eye on him and had overheard their conversation.
"Your skills, it seems... it may not be up to par!" Chen Jianhui looked at the expression on Jing Jing's face and furrowed his brow. "Unless, you have hidden achievements?"
"Dean, you are truly amazing!" Jing Jing smiled. "Yes, I am this year's top scorer in the humanities."
"That's something." Chen Jianhui smiled. "I know the purpose of your visit here. The requests of the deans from other academies, even if it's just the Manufacturing Academy which only requires the second-tier ability, I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to meet the requirements. Am I right?"
At this moment, Jing Jing appeared somewhat awkward. "Dean, I genuinely wish to join the School of Literature and focus solely on pursuing research in the future..."
"Nonsense! Didn't you hear what I said earlier? A true supernormal being is someone who is both cultured and skilled in martial arts!"
Jing Jing smiled bitterly and said, "I don't know if my first level light-system superpower can be considered a superpower..."
Suddenly, Chen Jianhui and Yuan Weimin exchanged a glance. Without saying a word, Chen Jianhui took hold of Jingjing's hand and left.
"What's wrong? Moved by it?" Yuan Weimin smiled discreetly. He couldn't reveal this secret himself, otherwise these deans would compete for it, and having the Dean of the School of Literature take charge of it would also be a good thing, after all... the School of Literature still had some power.
"I will not be taking any more apprenticeships from now on. Those who wish to join the college of literature shall seek out other teachers."
Chen Jianhui, an eight-level supernatural being, immediately flew away with Jing Jing.
Jingjing had no idea how extraordinary his luminous energy was.
In fact, no one really understands the peculiarities of the photon-kinetic abilities.
When the principal found Yuan Weimin earlier, Yuan Weimin heard about the light-based superpower and knew it was the first superpower in the scientific research field, and very few people possessed it.
However, what neither the principal nor anyone else knew was that the abilities of the optical department had an additional benefit.
That is a bonus.
Only the dean of the School of Literature has knowledge of this, because he is considered the most accomplished literary researcher, and thus, he is aware of some hidden things.
Upon reaching the destination, Jingjing was feeling dizzy and disoriented.
"Do you know where this is?"
Jingjing finally managed to expel the contents of his stomach after much difficulty, and then surveyed his surroundings, realizing that he was in a massive research institute.
This type of architecture is a place that can only be entered after passing numerous checkpoints. While high school is not non-existent, it pales in comparison.
"This is not only the Textual Research Institute of the Galactic University, but also the headquarters of the Galactic Enforcement Officers!"
Speaking of the Galactic Enforcers, Chen Jianhui's eyes seemed to shine, and he said heavily, "This time, if you come, I will take you as my apprentice and let you enter the realm of the Enforcers!"
"Why? Just because I am a light system superpower? But, Dean, I am just a first-order superpower!"
Jing was puzzled, while Jianhui was coldly saying, "What? Not changing your words yet?"
Jing was stunned for a moment before asking, "Teacher, so why is that?"
"Why?" Chen Jianhui chuckled, "You'll find out soon enough!"
He carried Jingjing's body as if he was carrying a little chick and entered the Text Research Institute. Which, of course, was also the headquarters of the Galactic Enforcement Officers.
"Number one."
"Number One!"
Everyone who saw Chen Jianhui didn't call him the Dean, instead they called him "Number One".
"This is a newcomer, from now on you should call him by number 228!"
"Yes!"
Onlookers gazed curiously at the lifted figure of Jing, who was left feeling utterly ashamed.
He could only enter with a thick-skinned face, and soon arrived at a place.
"We've arrived." Chen Jianhui left him on the ground, and Jing rolled forward, releasing the force.
"Not entirely useless, today, your opportunity has arrived," said Chen Jianhui as he glanced at Jing, surprised by his physical ability and adaptability.
He pointed forward to the crystal cover in front of his body and said, "Inside, there is the remaining ability of a deceased light system esper. Go and absorb it, and soon you will be able to break through to the second level esper!"
