Chapter 29
Today, she probably didn't want to clean the floor either. Looking at the person sitting on the bed, she suddenly became interested in trying to understand Su Mo's thoughts again.
Putting down the broom in her hand, Lu Jia silently sat back down next to Su Mo.
The person on the bed clearly felt Lu Jia's presence and touch, but stubbornly refused to turn her head. Instead, she picked up the computer on the side of the bed, clicked on it, and immersed herself as a drama-watching zombie.
Lu Jia chose to ignore her behavior and naturally leaned on Su Mo's shoulder, letting Su Mo bear the weight of her head. Her gaze fell on the computer screen.
At the same time, she lowered her voice and asked, "What are you looking at?"
Obviously, Su Mo couldn't answer her, or maybe she didn't want to. Anyway, the person looking at the computer would occasionally click on it until Lu Jia realized something was wrong.
At first, she thought Su Mo was adjusting the volume, but later she realized that the frequency of the clicks was too frequent even for volume adjustment.
Out of curiosity, even though she originally had no interest in the computer content, she had to carefully watch the video.
It wasn't until she realized that Su Mo's actions weren't adjusting the volume, but watching the same clip over and over again.
The video kept replaying a scene where a boy and girl were in an amusement park. The girl was having a great time, and they even hugged each other.
Lu Jia was familiar with this kind of cliched TV plot, but Su Mo kept replaying it again and again.
Watching Su Mo repeating the action, Lu Jia initially found it strange and wondered if this scene was really that captivating.
It wasn't until she recalled Su Mo's recent behavior and abnormal watching of TV dramas that she suddenly had a realization.
So, Su Mo, do you want to go out and play?
"Do you want to go here?" she asked, pointing to the carousel on the TV screen.
Su Mo looked at Lu Jia pointing at the thing on TV, then immediately looked up at Lu Jia, her expression becoming visibly excited as she nodded repeatedly.
Seeing Su Mo's expression, Lu Jia realized she was right. Su Mo's recent unusual behavior was because she had been staying in the dormitory for too long and was feeling a bit bored.
Thinking about this, Lu Jia couldn't help but feel guilty. She understood Su Mo's desire to relieve boredom, but she couldn't do it. "We probably can't go to that place."
Although it was a bit regrettable, Lu Jia understood that it was practically impossible to go to an amusement park at this time.
Hearing that they couldn't go, Su Mo seemed to have understood, and she quietly lowered her head. She didn't make a fuss, but her expression was pitiful, as if she was about to be abandoned. It was heart-wrenching to see.
So, with determination, Lu Jia reached out and touched Su Mo's head. "Although I can't take you there right now, we can still go out for a walk."
After her words, Su Mo indeed regained her spirits. She stared closely at Lu Jia, as if afraid she would run away and not keep her promise.
Feeling someone's worry, Lu Jia could only smile helplessly. Does she seem easy to talk to?
"Let's go, I'll take you out for a walk."
The person who got off the bed reached out their hand towards Su Mo. Seeing Su Mo still in bed, they took the initiative to hold Su Mo's hand. After confirming that the key was in their own pocket, they pulled Su Mo out of the dorm.
The door of 417 had just been closed for a few seconds when it was immediately opened by someone from outside.
Lu Jia pulled the person and searched through the cabinet. They finally found an orange sunglasses and put them on Su Mo's ears. At first, Su Mo was a little unwilling, but when Lu Jia said that this was the only way to take her out, Su Mo agreed.
Although a person with half of their face covered in gauze and wearing sunglasses suddenly appeared in the corridor of the dorm, it was a bit cool. But obviously, at this time, not many people cared about being cool.
With it being lunchtime, everyone chose to stay in the dorm to enjoy their food. So even on the corridor, there were barely any people around, making it feel empty.
But for Lu Jia, this was the best situation, not having to worry about encountering too many people.
Feeling the gentle sunlight, she now looked at Su Mo and felt as if Su Mo was surrounded by a sense of looseness and comfort, carrying the warmth from the sun. Su Mo was no longer so cold, which made her feel that it was necessary to take Su Mo out for a walk.
And judging by Su Mo's expression, it seems like she's really enjoying it.
Boom!
Originally, both of them were supposed to turn and go down to the third floor, but their comfortable walk was disrupted by a sudden sound.
Listening to that sound, Lu Jia felt like something had hit the cabinet.
Standing at the staircase, Lu Jia looked towards the source of the sound, feeling like it was coming from the nearby dormitory.
It wasn't really a place to be concerned about, but on this floor, there lived a girl who had caused a disturbance before due to her boyfriend's death, which naturally made people pay more attention.
Moreover, Lu Jia hadn't seen that girl again these past few days, and although she told herself not to meddle in other people's affairs, her feet just couldn't seem to take the step down the staircase.
It wasn't until the people beside her noticed her strange behavior that one person, who had already descended a floor, turned around, grabbed her hand, and signaled to move on.
Trying not to overthink, Lu Jia followed the steps where Su Mo was, stepping up onto the stair, but her heart couldn't help but feel tense, caught between going up or down, which was truly bothersome.
So, under Su Mo's confusion, she smiled apologetically and said, "Let's go this way."
The stairs connected them, so even if they went from the other side, they could still go down. Taking a few extra steps would be like burning some fat.
Trying to calm herself down, Lu Jia pulled Su Mo, who didn't seem very willing, towards the dormitory where that girl was located, not because she wanted to interfere but because she wanted to exercise more.
Just as they reached the window, Su Mo's emotions started to get a little excited and she let out a soft roar.
"Who is it?"
Obviously, the noise caused by Su Mo caught the attention of the people inside the room, but the tone clearly couldn't have come from a girl.
The sound of footsteps was gradually getting closer.
From inside, the window on the left side of the dormitory was pushed to the right. The person standing at the window looked left and right, but didn't see anyone.
Thinking that maybe someone was coming downstairs, the people inside the room didn't think much about it. With a loud bang, the person forcefully closed the window.
The sound of footsteps gradually went away and into the house.
Hearing the fading sound, the person lying under the window finally sighed in relief. Their heart was pounding nonstop, showing Lu Jia's current state of mind.
When she heard someone approaching, for reasons unknown, she almost instinctively reacted by grabbing Su Mo and both of them smoothly lying down on the ground in a stacked position.
Su Mo was on top, she was underneath.
With one hand embracing Su Mo's neck and the other making a shushing gesture, she signaled Su Mo not to speak.
The person on top quickly understood her meaning and obediently remained silent, allowing them to narrowly escape a disaster.
Although Lu Jia wasn't sure why she thought this way, she knew that ever since the last girl in their dormitory had tried to kill herself, all the roommates had moved out one by one. Now, this girl practically had her own separate room. And now, in this room, she could hear voices that didn't belong to a girl.
For some reason, when she associated those voices with her previous experience, she couldn't shake the feeling that it wouldn't be something good.
While she was pondering about the girl's situation in her mind, Su Mo, who was across from her, was looking at her intently.
Her mind went numb, and inside there was a little girl with braided hair. She was sitting on a round stone chair, smiling. Her mouth puffed up as if something was wriggling inside.
The little girl reached out her hand in front of her. Slowly, she opened her palm, and the things inside sparkled in the sunlight, shining in her eyes. Su Mo instinctively closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, the little girl had disappeared.
Suddenly overwhelmed by panic, she couldn't control her emotions. She desperately wanted to find the child again, to catch her, until she saw Lu Jia below her.
Those eyes resembled the little girl she had just seen. Following her eyes down, a slender nose eventually settled on her lips.
The little girl's lips were plump and shone brightly in the sunlight, a vibrant red, just like the red lips reflected in her eyes.
"Sweet, do you want to taste it?"
The voice in her mind sounded somewhat innocent and pure. The little mouth opened and spoke, but she couldn't catch what came after.
She didn't understand what the words meant, but they felt familiar. She even felt unwilling to let the little girl go.
Unwilling... to go.
She kept thinking about this sentence in her heart, and she seemed to understand its meaning a little.
And she really wanted to know the taste again...
"Hmm?"
Feeling the movement of her lips, and seeing her nose almost touching hers, Lu Jia, who had returned from her thoughts, was completely stunned in place.
Now, this is... she got bitten again?
Feeling the pressure and tingling sensation on her lips, Lu Jia realized that Su Mo was not really kissing her, but just licking. She could even feel Su Mo's teeth sliding on her lips, sometimes causing a slight prickling sensation.
When someone is bitten, the first reaction is not to move. She had seen people turning into zombies after being bitten, and she was afraid that any movement would cause tearing and result in her getting bitten through the skin.
And just as luck would have it, someone came down from the fourth floor at this moment, reached the third floor, and smoothly caught sight of the two people huddled together.
They murmured in admiration, quietly sighing about the openness of people's behavior in the post-apocalyptic world. Can't they just go back to their dorm and find a bed?
Then, with a feeling of dislike and disgust, they went downstairs and decided to ignore what they had seen.
Lu Jia also didn't know why she had such good hearing, but she managed to hear every word the person said without missing a single one. (Actually, they were not far apart at all, just in different dorm rooms.)
So, feeling unjustly accused, she blushed furiously.
