Chapter 3
Lu Jia fell heavily to the ground, lying there like a drunken person. She was misbehaving, reaching out and hitting the legs of those dancing around her, until someone helped her up and guided her out of the bar.
"Who is it? Let go of me," she struggled, taking advantage of her drunkenness and even hitting the person next to her a few times.
Su Mo looked at the drunken Lu Jia with eyes that were usually cold, as if nothing could touch her. But now, they showed a hint of concern. She felt helpless because Lu Jia didn't take care of herself, couldn't handle alcohol, and ended up like this.
"Be good, I'll take you back," her voice was gentle, like a sudden breeze on a hot day, soothing the heat and restraining someone from going into a drunken frenzy.
But the breeze was only temporary, its effect will fade away.
Su Mo wanted to stop a car, but it was strange that at this moment, despite waiting for a while, no empty car could be seen. And the person next to her was gradually recovering from their drunkenness.
"I don't want to go back, I want to keep drinking, I can still do it," the intoxicated person wriggled and only wanted to escape from confinement.
Su Mo was afraid that she was holding too tightly, so she had to use both of her hands to wrap it around her.
"Lu Jia, you can't go back anymore, be obedient~, no more fussing."
The blurry person, due to the effects of alcohol, looked at the figure in front of them until the figure gradually had a face.
"Su… Su Mo?" Her tone sounded like she was confirming who the person in front of her was, pointing at Su Mo's face, and slowly getting closer.
As Lu Jia suddenly approached, Su Mo couldn't help but hold her breath. The warmth on her face was whether it came from Lu Jia's breath or from herself, she didn't know.
"How is it possible, how could you be that annoying person?"
Lu Jia said, and instinctively leaned back, thanks to Su Mo who timely wrapped her arms around someone and straightened them up.
"Lu Jia, do you really dislike me?"
"Hmm… I really hate it, hate it so much," the person who responded seemed to be expressing long-held resentment.
"You say, with such high scores, why do you study here?"
Even though Lu Jia was already drunk, facing her questioning, Su Mo didn't know how to answer. To her, she just wanted to get closer.
"You…", Lu Jia pointed at Su Mo's face again, "You're like a ghost following me everywhere. If I didn't know any better, I'd think you're interested in me."
Watching someone smack their lips, clearly influenced by alcohol, Su Mo couldn't help but smile. The way she looked at Lu Jia carried a maternal radiance, full of indulgence.
"Since you know, why do you always avoid me, Lu Jia?" Su Mo whispered, her mood suddenly becoming complicated. But Lu Jia couldn't answer her question at the moment.
"Finally, after graduation, I've found a job. I won't have to see you anymore," Lu Jia continued speaking, but as she talked, her eyes suddenly reddened. Reflected in Su Mo's gaze, there were glistening tears, waiting for the right moment to burst out.
"Drip~"
An empty taxi approached the two, and when it reached them, it stopped. The driver smiled at the two and asked, "Beautiful ladies, need a ride?"
Su Mo looked at Lu Jia like this, but in the end she helped Lu Jia onto the car and slammed the door, "Master, go to F City University of Science and Technology."
"Okay ~"
The driver turned the empty sign into one with passengers. Su Mo looked at the driver and noticed a small mark resembling a toothbite on his arm, which was also slightly swollen.
With a cautious mindset, Su Mo had to be careful, "Master, what's on your arm?"
The driver glanced at his own arm and muttered a curse.
"I picked up a young man today, he had drunk too much. I helped him into the car, and he mistook me for an appetizer and took a bite."
The driver looked at the swollen toothbite marks on his arm. Fortunately, the young man gave him his contact information and even gave him money. He was thinking of stopping by the pharmacy later.
Su Mo couldn't help but feel strange. Even if it's a tooth with alcohol residue, it shouldn't cause such a big swelling.
The intoxicated person rested their head on Su Mo's thigh, they were very restless, and kept rubbing against it, muttering, "Tell me, why don't you become a teacher? Why did you only graduate, why didn't you follow me?"
Su Mo was attracted to Lu Jia and didn't pay attention to the driver anymore because Lu Jia's voice was too soft.
She leaned closer to listen, but could only hear Lu Jia say, "Su Mo, you're annoying."
Looking at Lu Jia, Su Mo reached out and pushed aside a strand of hair blocking Dulcia's eyes, tucking it behind her ear with a hint of helplessness.
Rest well, Lu Jia…
Lu Jia in the dormitory looked at the person in front of her, but her mind was still filled with thoughts of the hands that treated her last night.
The movements of the hands were very gentle, and Lu Jia tried hard to see clearly, until that face perfectly matched the face in front of her.
Su Mo?
As the name overlapped with the person in front of her in her mind, the memories in her mind started to become less blurry.
Lu Jia's body suddenly shivered, causing her hand to twitch. The person who was licking her hand finally stopped and looked up at her.
The gray eyeballs were like the fake eyeballs of a doll, without any human emotions. But when Lu Jia looked at them, somehow she felt that Su Mo was worried about her.
Looking at Su Mo's lifeless eyes and the half of her face that was unable to be seen, Lu Jia couldn't help but think that she was perhaps scared and having hallucinations.
Seeing Su Mo kneeling beside her hand, motionless and obedient, Lu Jia's hand felt a little itchy, as long as she didn't look at the half of her face.
The two of them stayed still for a while, and throughout, Su Mo kept staring at her without turning her gaze away.
Lu Jia looked at her, but couldn't resist the itchiness in her heart. Her hand moved towards the direction of Su Mo's head. However, when her gaze fell upon Su Mo's ruined half-face, her hand froze in place due to the panic about her life.
In front of her was actually a monster. Lu Jia scolded herself for being deceived, otherwise why would she think like this? But in the current situation, if she withdrew her hand and was misunderstood, she might be completely finished.
Her hand stiffened in the air.
Su Mo looked at her hand, tilted her head, blinked her eyes, as if deep in thought.
This time when Lu Jia saw Su Mo staring at her hand, she knew it was not a good idea to move. She swallowed her saliva and looked very worried.
Until she saw Su Mo rushing towards her hand, now she wanted to pull her hand back, but she was too scared and it seemed like her hand was completely out of her control.
Under the tension and fear, she couldn't help but tightly close her eyes.
The imagined pain didn't come again, and her hand could feel warmth, like it was placed on something.
This time, Lu Jia's courage was a little bigger than before. She opened her eyes faster, even though she only opened one eye at first.
In the gaze of her one eye, her hand had already been placed on Su Mo's head. The feeling she felt came from Su Mo's head. Finally, this scene made her open her eyes.
Su Mo seemed to feel her gaze and rubbed her head against Lu Jia's hand.
Proactive!
Lu Jia wasn't sure if her experience was real, but the sensation on her hand was real.
Maybe Su Mo was too proactive, making her feel more confident and starting to act recklessly. She gently touched Su Mo's head, even giving it a little rub. But Su Mo was really well-behaved, kneeling like that.
Despite being a scary creature, Su Mo's behavior was clearly not right. And finally, Lu Jia understood why so many people loved having cute pets. She deeply understood it now.
"So obedient~" Her words slipped out involuntarily.
After she spoke, Su Mo tilted its head slightly, as if trying to tell her it didn't understand.
Seeing this, Lu Jia just smiled and asked, "Can you hear me?"
While waiting for Su Mo's response, Lu Jia's hand stopped moving. But Su Mo didn't react.
Lu Jia looked at Su Mo and decided to try a different approach. For some reason, she felt that Su Mo could still understand her words, that it wasn't just a complete zombie.
"If you can hear me, nod your head," Lu Jia demonstrated by pointing at herself and nodding. "Like this."
Su Mo looked at Lu Jia, then after a while, it followed and moved its head up and down.
"Yes, just like that."
Watching Su Mo imitate, Lu Jia's excitement was comparable to when she received a full scholarship to F University.
But for Su Mo, her excitement was perhaps just a strange gesture, so she tilted her head to the right again and quietly watched her.
However, with happiness came an indescribable sadness.
Su Mo nodded, but whether she was simply mimicking her or actually understood her words, Lu Jia couldn't tell.
Retracting her hand, Lu Jia sighed silently and instinctively rubbed her hand.
It's just… the touch feels a bit strange.
Bowing her head silently, Lu Jia looked at the palm of her hand that was already spread out, and she couldn't help but widen her eyes. Looking at the fair palm, she reached out with her left hand to touch it, but there was no longer that uneven feeling and she even felt a bit itchy.
But… she definitely had a wound. She couldn't be mistaken. Recalling the various moments before, the only one who had come into contact with her hand was Su Mo, who licked it.
Although it was hard to believe, she still turned her palm towards Su Mo and pointed to her palm, saying, "Were you healing me before?"
Su Mo just sat there, still tilting her head, without responding.
Was it really that she didn't understand? Even though Lu Jia was mentally prepared, for some reason, she still felt a bit disappointed. Maybe she still hoped that Su Mo could retain some humanity.
After all, she and Su Mo were archenemies.
Her fingers gradually closed together, bending down with a tinge of disappointment in her heart.
Withdrawing her hand, she looked at Su Mo. Her eyes widened again in surprise, and then she smiled with overwhelming joy.
In her eyes, Su Mo nodded at her.
This scene imprinted itself in her mind, leaving a tremendous impact on her.
